Meet Pierce King Law

Pierce King is a boutique law firm that exclusively handles estate planning, trust administration, probate, and business law matters for clients throughout the state of California. Our founder, Julie King, served as an in-house attorney for international corporations (including Toshiba America) and, along with one other lawyer, simultaneously handled business transactions for a parent company and its 17 operating subsidiaries.

Julie also handles estate planning, probate and trust administration.

Our Associate Attorney, Tricia L. Manning, graduated at the top of her class in law school and handled sophisticated estate planning matters, probates, and trust administrations in Silicon Valley for over a decade before moving to Monterey, where our firm is based.

With close to 50 years of combined experience, legal team creates legal solutions that give our clients peace of mind!

Founding Attorney

Julie King has been practicing law for more than 30 years. She has worked in law firms and legal departments of major international corporations, such as Toshiba America, where she and two other lawyers handled all of the company’s legal matters for the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean. She has negotiated contracts with the governments of Qatar, China, and the United Arab Emirates, as well as handled business transactions with American companies such as Microsoft and Walmart. She also practices estate planning law, where she handles a variety of trusts, wills, health care directives, powers of attorney, real estate grant deeds and other estate planning documents, as well as handling probate and trust administration matters.

She is currently the principal of PIERCE KING, P.C., an estate planning and business law firm in Monterey that represents clients throughout California.

Julie has been repeatedly voted THE BEST LAWYER IN MONTEREY COUNTY three years in a row.

Julie received her undergraduate degree from UCLA, where she was a member of the Political Science Honor Society. She received her law degree (Juris Doctorate) from Loyola Law School.

Julie is also a co-owner of ALLIANCE CAREER TRAINING SOLUTIONS, which provides computer and business skills training both online and in-person to help people stay employable and up to date on software programs like Excel and QuickBooks, as well learn basic accounting, business writing, time management, emotional intelligence, and more. Alliance also offers custom classes in English and Spanish.

Ms. King is a Board Member for the IMPOWER and Monterey Bay Educational Center, as well as an Ambassador for the Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce.

Julie King is a noted speaker, having conducted seminars for the State Bar of California, Continuing Education of the Bar of California, Monterey Bar Association, and Orange County Bar Association. Additionally, she has been a guest lecturer at the California State University, Fullerton, taught ethics at Western State University School of Law, and was a professor at the University of California, Irvine’s Paralegal Program. Her talks cover a wide range of topics from The Differences Between Trusts and Wills to Sexual Harassment Prevention.

She is involved in her community on the Board of IMPOWER, and has been involved with United Way, Segram Center for the Performing Arts, Royal Family Kids’ Camp,

Attorney Tricia L. Manning

Tricia is an estate planning attorney who drafts wills, trusts, powers of attorney, real estate deeds and other legal documents to help people plan for their futures and save taxes. She also handles trust administration matters and probates.

Before moving back to the Monterey Peninsula where she grew up, Tricia worked at a law firm in Silicon Valley where she drafted and advised clients on sophisticated estate plans. 

Tricia graduated from the University of the Pacific – McGeorge School of Law where she earned her Juris Doctor degree with Great Distinction and with a Tax Law Concentration. While in law school, Tricia was on the McGeorge Law Review, Order of the Coif, a member of the Traynor Honor Society, on the Dean’s List, received a Witkin Award for the highest grade in Bankruptcy Law, received the Sacramento Estate Planning Council Scholarship, a member of both the Business and Tax Law Society, and participant in the Pacific Pathways Pipeline Tutoring and Mentorship Project. Tricia received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where she earned was on both the President’s List and Dean’s List. In other words, she’s really smart!

Tricia is married, has three adorable children, and a bunch of pets. So, she’s busy on her “days off” spending time with her family and her parents, with whom she remains close.
